About Us

The Mother of Life Center was founded in 1984 in Providence, RI, under the name Problem Pregnancy of Providence. Our mission was then, and still is today, to provide women who were experiencing an unexpected pregnancy with the knowledge and resources to make healthy decisions for themselves and their unborn children. Our welcoming attitude to all women, regardless of age, race, creed or nationality, is inspired by our Christian belief that every innocent person is an image of God, and deserves to be loved and nurtured.

To date we have helped over 16,000 women find positive, life-affirming solutions to the difficulties they faced. In 2007, we expanded our ministry by opening an office in Westerly, making our services conveniently available to the residents of southern Rhode Island.

In addition to offering clear, factual information about pregnancy and fetal development, we have provided limited ultrasound viewings to young mothers who were surprised and happy to see the lively development of their unborn babies. Of all those women who were considering abortion, 96% finally decided to bring their babies to birth, and three of them had twins!
 

The staff of the Mother of Life Center is willing to make educational presentations to parish or community groups about the various life issues and their challenges today. Topics include life in the womb, abortion, marriage, chastity, contraception, and stem cell research. The principles we promote are based on sound medical evidence and perennial Church teaching.

We encourage all adults and youth to learn about these vital subjects that affect us all, directly or indirectly. We are happy to invite everyone to visit the Mother of Life Center at your convenience, and to join with us as we offer charitable support to our neighbors and fellow Rhode Islanders.
